As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados
When we’re asked to bring a dish to Friendsgiving or our family’s Thanksgiving gathering, a few classic come to mind: mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole and the like.
In an effort to make the spread as diverse as possible, we always try to think outside the Thanksgiving box, bringing a new and innovative dish we hope will go on to become a Thanksgiving staple.
Thanksgiving Round-Up
Thanksgiving isn’t complete without a plethora of snacks to nibble on while the turkey cooks to a golden brown.
We’re loving this Sweet Potato Guacamole. We prefer the sweet potatoes to be oven-roasted, but microwaving the sweet potatoes is a quick alternative if your oven is stuffed to the brim.
If you’ve been assigned the potato dish – we’ve got two options.
The first is a twist on traditional mashed potatoes. Avocados add creaminess in this version and the caramelized shallots are a welcome twist on French-fried onions.
Don’t let the name fool you – this Sweet Potato Hash with Creamy California Avocado Sauce is surprisingly savory with garlic and bacon mix-ins.
And if side dishes aren’t your thing – bring a turkey topper! Our favorite is this Cranberry Avocado Salsa. Jalapenos give it spicy kick, making it a great addition or replacement for cranberry sauce.
Dessert may be the trickiest dish to bring to a Thanksgiving spread. After so many tasty things to try for dinner, guests may be too full to indulge in dessert.
With this Avocado Pumpkin Bread with Chocolate Chips – we think we can find room for a few more bites. It’s like pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cookies had a baby!
Happy Thanksgiving to our family, friends, growers and fans. May your Thanksgiving and holiday meals be tasty and your time with family and friends be memorable.
