These tender jalapeño halves are topped with a creamy, cheesy California Avocado center and baked until golden brown and bubbly. They are so simple to make, but even easier to eat. Serve these up as an appetizer for spicy snack on game day that will garner more attention than the TV.

Ingredients6 jalapeños 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature 1 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled and cut into small cubes 1 tsp. garlic powder 1/8 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. cracked black pepper 3 green onions, finely chopped 1 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon pieces
- Preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Cut each jalapeño in half lengthwise. deseed each side and discard seeds.
- In a large bowl mix together the cream cheese, avocado, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, green onions, sharp cheddar cheese and bacon pieces until smooth.
- Fill each jalapeño half with an even layer of the cream cheese mixture and place onto a large baking sheet. Bake jalapeño halves for 18-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melty.
Notes: To increase the spice level, leave jalapeño ribs and seeds intact.
Serving Suggestion: These poppers can be prepared ahead of time and left covered in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
Beverage Pairing: Pair with a refreshing glass of lemonade.
*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
