Cheese Grits with California Avocado

2 | cups | water |
1/2 | tsp. | salt |
1/2 | cup | stone-ground grits |
2 | Tbsp. | butter |
1/2 | cup | shredded Cheddar cheese |
1 | ripe, Fresh California Avocado peeled, seeded and cut into ½” cubes |
As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water and salt; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Add grits, stirring to combine. Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring frequently, for 25 to 30 minutes, or until grits are thickened and creamy.
- Remove grits from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add butter and cheese
- Top with avocado cubes
Serving Suggestion: Top with sautéed or BBQ shrimp or mixed veggies for a dinner entrée.
