Roasted Unagi with California Avocado Sushi
|As needed||California Avocado Sushi Rice (recipe follows)|
|1||Tbsp.||prepared teriyaki sauce|
|1||tsp.||toasted sesame seeds|
|1/3||cup||shaved bonito flakes|
|California Avocado Sushi Rice (Yield: 3/4 cup)|
|1/2||cup||prepared sushi rice|
|1/4||Fresh California Avocado*, coarsely chopped|
|As needed||Prepared wasabi paste, to taste|
As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados
California Avocado Sushi Rice:
- Combine sushi rice, avocado, and mayonnaise in a bowl. Add wasabi paste to taste.
- Form the California Avocado Sushi Rice into a rectangular shape on a plate, roughly the size of the unagi.
- Heat a grill to medium high heat. Grill unagi for 1 minute on each side. Remove from heat.
- Glaze unagi with teriyaki sauce, then garnish with sesame seeds and chives. Lay unagi over the rice. Garnish with shaved bonito. Serve.
*A large Fresh California Avocado weighs about 8 oz.
