There are lots of the things that help make smoothies taste great — bananas, pineapple, berries, mango.
The only problem is it’s fruit, fruit and more fruit.
Don’t get me wrong, fruit is fantastic! But if you are anything like me throwing a bunch of fruit in the blender for breakfast leaves me hungry well before lunch. I need something with more substance. Something that balances fat and protein to help me feel full.
All that fruit also requires quite a bit of prep work and let’s be honest, when I’m making a smoothie for breakfast it’s probably because I’m running out the door like a hot mess.
I’ve made it my personal mission to create a perfect quick breakfast that satisfies the trifecta of awesome smoothie making: 1.) it takes minutes to makes, 2.) fills me and up, and 3.) it has to taste great.
At first I thought this mission was impossible
Then I remembered our old friend, the California Avocado.
Avocados make a wonderful smoothie addition for myriad of reasons but the top three in my opinion are:
- They add a wonderful texture.
- They are loaded with nutrients.
- Their healthy fat content helps you feel fuller longer.
Combine the awesomeness that is avocado with a touch of sweetness and some protein and my mission was accomplished.
