Here’s a simple ham avocado sandwich that’s a little bit of Italy with fresh mozzarella and deli ham or prosciutto, and a lot of California with crusty sourdough bread and creamy California Avocado. Both avocado slices and mashed avocado make this ham and cheese sandwich extra special.

  1. Slice half the avocado and set aside. Mash the rest of the avocado and add salt to taste.
  2. Spread the mashed avocado on one of the toasted bread slices. Top with tomato slices, then pepper, ham, cheese, avocados and the remaining bread slice.
  3. Cut sandwich in half and enjoy.

Serving Suggestion: If desired, chiffonade some fresh basil and place between the tomato and ham or serve with pesto sauce for dipping.

Beverage Pairing: Chenin Blanc

*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
