Today, we have an extra special reason to celebrate. In honor of Labor Day, we want to offer our deepest gratitude to our growers. They provide skilled TLC to our California Avocados making them the rich, creamy fruit we all love ¬– from seedling to supermarket.
Our growers are now tending the 2017 crop as the 2016 California Avocado season comes to a close. After all, it’s nature and nurture that make our fruit special. Click here for more on the season ending.
Let’s celebrate the close of a fruitful season, Labor Day and the growers that made it all possible with a tasty and American-grown menu.
LABOR OF LOVE MENU
The temperature is high in the dog days of summer, so we wanted to make sure our menu was light, refreshing and classically American.
Before your Labor Day guests arrive, halve and pit some avocados and throw them on the grill. Once those beautiful grill marks appear, move the fruit from the grill onto a board complete with bread, meat, fresh produce and other toppings for a gorgeous Grilled Avocado Crostini Board.
It’s hard not to fill up on these crostinis when there are so many options, but trust us, your guests will want to save room for the rest.
While the grill is still fired up, throw on some pre-coooked corn-on-the-cob to give it some grill marks and top it off with its perfect pairing: California Avocado Crema.
This Creamy California Avocado Coleslaw rounds out the side dishes as a refreshing, California take on a classic.
Surprise your guests with this main dish: Chipotle Chicken Avocado Burger. It’s the perfect way to enjoy both blueberries and avocados just before their seasons end. Another plus? The red onions and blueberries fit nicely into a red, white and blue party theme.
