 Spicy/Sweet California Avocado Mango Smoothie

This mango avocado smoothie is so creamy and delicious, you’ll have a hard time believing it delivers more than 100% of your daily vitamin C along with a nice chunk/excellent source of vitamin A (70% DV), vitamin B6 (25% DV) and a good source of vitamin k (15% DV), dietary fiber (12% DV) and iron (10% DV). Take five minutes in the morning to start your day off right!

Serves: 1
cup  frozen mango*
1/4    ripe, Fresh California Avocado**, seeded, peeled and cut into quarters
  large orange, zested and peeled
  lime, juiced
1/2  cup  water, unsweetened almond milk, or coconut water
pinch  cayenne (optional)
Tbsp.  honey or coconut nectar (optional)

As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados

  1. Add mango, avocado, orange and orange zest to a high speed blender.
  2. Mix lime juice and water (or almond milk or coconut water) and pour ¼ cup of mixture into blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Taste a spoonful of the smoothie and add more liquid if too thick. Add cayenne and honey, if using, and blend again until combined.

Serving Suggestion: Top with extra diced mango and avocado chunks along with a squeeze of lime.

*A medium mango averages 12-ounces and a ripe, 12-ounce mango will provide about 1 cup of fruit. Peel (1 to 2 mangos, depending on size) and cut into cubes, then freeze for a few hours or more, or purchase frozen mango cubes.

**Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
