 Garden Fresh Tomato and California Avocado Salsa

Meal Makeover Moms, Liz Weiss, MS, RD and Janice Newell Bissex, MS, RD, add a farm-fresh twist to one of their favorite condiments–salsa.

Ingredients

Serves: 3
  ripe Fresh California Avocado, peeled, seeded and cut into 1/4-inch cubes
cup  diced grape tomatoes
1/4  cup  coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
Tbsp.  Finely diced red onion
1/2    lime, juiced
1/8  tsp.  chili powder
  As needed  Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently stir together the avocado, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, lime juice and chili powder until well combined.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
