Here’s a simple ham avocado sandwich that’s a little bit of Italy with fresh mozzarella and deli ham or prosciutto, and a lot of California with crusty sourdough bread and creamy California Avocado. Both avocado slices and mashed avocado make this ham and cheese sandwich extra special.

Ingredients
1/2 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled and divided sea salt to taste, optional 2 slices crusty sourdough bread, or bread/roll of choice, toasted 1 small tomato, seeded and sliced Fresh cracked pepper to taste, optional 1 oz. deli ham or prosciutto 2 oz. ball fresh Mozzarella cheese, slicedInstructions
- Slice half the avocado and set aside. Mash the rest of the avocado and add salt to taste.
- Spread the mashed avocado on one of the toasted bread slices. Top with tomato slices, then pepper, ham, cheese, avocados and the remaining bread slice.
- Cut sandwich in half and enjoy.
Serving Suggestion: If desired, chiffonade some fresh basil and place between the tomato and ham or serve with pesto sauce for dipping.

*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
