Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef (90% lean or higher) 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped 2 tsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro 1/8 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper 4 hamburger buns, split 4 romaine lettuce leaves 1 tomato, sliced 1 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled and sliced 1 yellow or white onion, slicedInstructions
- Combine ground beef, jalapeño pepper, chopped onion, cilantro, salt and black pepper in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into 1/2-inch thick patties.
- Place patties on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 8 to 10 minutes or over medium heat on preheated gas grill, 7 to 9 minutes) until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160 degrees F, turning occasionally.
- Line bottom of each bun with lettuce leaf, top with burger, avocado, sliced onion and the top bun. Serve.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with Guacamole Potato Salad
Beverage Pairing: Nice with fresh lemonade.
*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
