As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting. Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados

  1. Combine ground beef, jalapeño pepper, chopped onion, cilantro, salt and black pepper in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into 1/2-inch thick patties.
  2. Place patties on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 8 to 10 minutes or over medium heat on preheated gas grill, 7 to 9 minutes) until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160 degrees F, turning occasionally.
  3. Line bottom of each bun with lettuce leaf, top with burger, avocado, sliced onion and the top bun. Serve.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with Guacamole Potato Salad

Beverage Pairing: Nice with fresh lemonade.

* Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
