Grilled seasoned fresh ground beef and California Avocados make for a juicy burger with a taste of the West.
|1||lb.||ground beef (90% lean or higher)|
|1||jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped|
|2||tsp.||finely chopped fresh cilantro|
|1/8||tsp.||ground black pepper|
|4||hamburger buns, split|
|4||romaine lettuce leaves|
|1||ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled and sliced|
|1||yellow or white onion, sliced|

- Combine ground beef, jalapeño pepper, chopped onion, cilantro, salt and black pepper in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into 1/2-inch thick patties.
- Place patties on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 8 to 10 minutes or over medium heat on preheated gas grill, 7 to 9 minutes) until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160 degrees F, turning occasionally.
- Line bottom of each bun with lettuce leaf, top with burger, avocado, sliced onion and the top bun. Serve.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with Guacamole Potato Salad

* Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
