THE MCINTYRE’S STORY The McIntyre family has been farming in California for four generations and growing…
Meet our family of growers who put care and craftsmanship into every California Avocado.
The Lyall family started farming with citrus in the 1930s. With four generations of California farmers in the family, the Lyall’s began growing avocados early in this century. They believe that farming is an honorable profession and take great pride in avocado growing.
The Lyall’s also believe that taking excellent care of the land is top priority along with providing trees with the support they need to flourish. They use high density plantings (a method of maximizing land use by planting more trees per acre than is done with traditional planting) and have on-site solar panels on their avocado farm that allow them to save green and be green at the same time. The Lyall’s avocado grove is part of an irrigated lands management group. They use water conservation methods and have buffer zones in place to protect local biodiversity.
Fourth generation farmer Andy Lyall is very active in his community. He serves on the San Diego County Farm Board, on the board of the Upper San Luis Rey Resource Conservation District and the California Avocado Commission Marketing Committee. He also volunteers at North Coast Church and as a baseball coach for Fallbrook Youth Baseball. Working alongside his father and his brother, Andy is grateful for each and every opportunity they’ve been presented with and hopes to continue the family business for generations to come.
Andy’s favorite way to enjoy California Avocados is in guacamole, and he loves them on Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos and salsas. He also loves to eat California Avocados in sushi and on avocado toast, sandwiches and burgers.
